If you have ever used a Windows desktop or notebook, you know that the included Solitaire game can become a massive time sink. One minute you start playing just to take your mind off things, and the next thing you know you have spent hours playing for just “one more game”. Today, the Microsoft Solitaire Collection has officially made its way over to Android devices (along with iOS) for even more time wasting temptations.

Now, this new game is not the Solitaire version you may have installed on your PC if you have Windows 7 or earlier. Beginning with Windows 8, Microsoft decided to launch a free-to-play version of the game that includes ads and in-game purchases for premium features. So if you are put off by that, Microsoft Solitaire Collection may not be for you.

However, if you can get past that, the game does offer five different versions of  Solitaire to check out: Spider, Freecell, Klondike, Pyramid and Tripeaks. There are also new daily challenges to play in the game and, if you have an Xbox Live account, you can unlock new achievements and compare your score with friends on a online leaderboard. You can also continue playing a game in the middle if you switch devices and play on an iOS or Windows 10 device.

To help celebrate the launch of Microsoft Solitaire Collection on Android, the company is offering users a way to get one free month of the game’s premium mode that normally costs $1.99. That will get rid of the in-game ads, along with the addition of double coin amounts for completing daily challenges and in-game boosts. The free offer will end on December 31.
