Is Sidharth Malhotra Being Roped In For Salman Khan Productions’ Next?

Actor Sidharth Malhotra got a major launchpad in Bollywood through a biggie production house like Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions. I Called Him As Salman Uncle During The 1st Trial Of Judwaa: Varun Dhawan

Actor Varun Dhawan, who will be stepping into Salman Khan’s shoes for the remake of 1997 film “Judwaa“, says he wants to give his best shot to the project, without disappointing the superstar.

At an event here to celebrate 20 years of “Judwaa“, Varun said: “Me, my dad (David Dhawan) and Sajid sir (Sajid Nadiadwala) — we all have spoken to Salman bhai regarding the film. He is someone I’ve known for my whole life. His blessings are obviously all there with me. I don’t want to disappoint him, my father and my audience as well,” Varun said here.

Commenting on comparisons with Salman, Varun said it is unfair.

Don’t want to disappoint Salman Khan: Varun Dhawan

“‘Judwaa 2‘ is a great opportunity for me. For the first time, I am playing a double role and if these two great people (Sajid Nadiadwala and David Dhawan) would not have been behind me, then it might have been difficult for any actor.

“I am going to put my head down and I am trying to create two fresh characters (Raja and Prem) that people will fall in love with. Hopefully, we live up to the expectations,” he added.

Recalling his memories of “Judwaa“, which was directed by his father, Varun said: “I remember during the first trial of the film, he (Salman) was standing in a pair of shorts and a vest. I called him as Salman uncle and he was very upset. He told me to call him ‘Bhai’.

“I have a lot of memories of the film when we were shooting in Mauritius. It was as if we went there for a holiday. Everybody was so relaxed on the set. As I was so young, I didn’t understand that everybody was actually working.

“Before we started the shooting of ‘Judwaa 2‘, Salman bhai sent the cartons of jeans for Raja’s character. I am going to use that.”

Judwaa 2” also stars Jacqueline Fernandez and Taapsee Pannu.

Eid Release Is Owned By Salman Khan, Says KJo

Karan Johar, whose forthcoming film Badrinath Ki Dulhania will hit the screens on Holi, says that he doesn’t want to release any of his films on Eid as the festive time is for Bollywood superstar Salman Khan’s movies.

Asked if he also wants to release his film on Eid, Karan told reporters during the launch of the trailer of Badrinath Ki Dulhania, “No. Eid release is owned by Salman Khan. Of course, if Salman Khan and I work together on a Dharma Productions’ film, then yes we will do an Eid release, otherwise no.”

Eid release is owned by Salman Khan: Karan Johar

“We are here not just to release a movie, but it should be in a manner to optimise the number. So, as a producer and studio (that we are partnered with) we have to keep certain things in mind,” the filmmaker added.

Karan said that there are certain factors like whose film is releasing before, which one is releasing after theirs and Hollywood film release that need to be considered before blocking a date for a film’s release.

The trailer launch on Thursday started with a stage performance by the film’s lead actors Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt.

The Shashank Khaitan directorial, produced by Dharma Productions and distributed by Fox Star Studios, is set for a March 10 release.

Salman Khan’s Performance In Tubelight ‘Five Times Better’ Than Bajrangi Bhaijaan

Filmmaker Kabir Khan says superstar Salman Khan’s performance in their upcoming film Tubelight is five times better than the one in their 2015 blockbuster Bajrangi Bhaijaan.

Speaking to media at the screening of the Oscar-nominated film Lion on Wednesday here, Kabir said, “Salman will be seen in a completely different way in the film (‘Tubelight’). If people have thought that Salman’s performance is special in ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’, then his performance in ‘Tubelight’ is five times better than it. The audience will see Salman’s better performance in ‘Tubelight’.”

Asked about the status of the shooting of the film, the “Ek Tha Tiger” director said that only “a day’s shoot is left”.

After delivering hit films like “Ek Tha Tiger” and “Bajrangi Bhaijaan”, is there any pressure?

“I made a film and now it’s up to the audience to decide whether the film is good or bad. However, I don’t carry forward the pressure of the past film. Otherwise, I would have made another movie like ‘Ek Tha Tiger’.”

“We have made ‘Tubelight’ and if people like the film, the business will be similar or more than ‘Bajrangi…’ and if they don’t, then it would be a bit low.”

Talking about the challenges he faced during the shooting, he said, “I shot this film in Ladakh. That was the most challenging… to shoot the film in that location.”

Kabir also strongly condemned the recent attack on ace filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali in Jaipur.

He found it “shocking and horrific”.

“I can’t believe that it happened in my country. Everybody has the right to express things but in a democratic way and not in a hooliganism way. It’s disgusting.”

Tubelight is slated for an Eid release.
