Rock On 2: 1st Saturday Box Office Collections

Farhan Akhtar starrer Rock On 2 showed slight  growth on its second day. The film which took a dismal start, managed to collect approximately 2.30 crores on its second day according to early estimates.

It now stands with a collection of 4.32 crores* at the domestic box office. It is performing way lower than Farhan’s last release Wazir and also Shraddha Kapoor’s Baaghi.

The demonetization move has truly affected badly for this film’s business. Also, with overall no positive word of mouth, the film is headed to a poor lifetime collection.

Rock On 2’s first weekend collection itself is expected to be approximately 6 crores which is extremely poor.

Rock On 2, Chaar Sahibzaade: Rise of Banda Singh Bahadur | Friday Collections

There wasn’t really any spark at the Box Office yesterday as entertainment was the last thing in the mind of ‘aam junta’. With focus on getting money from the ATMs and exchanging old currency notes, it was tough to imagine even regular Friday audiences making beelines for the new releases. Moreover, considering the fact that there wasn’t really much of a hype surrounding either of the two new major releases, it was anyways an uphill task for theaters to show much of collections.

Still, Chaar Sahibzaade: Rise of Banda Singh Bahadur [RBSB] at least worked in some pockets and brought out that segment of audience which had lapped up the first in the series. The film has seen a good sized release in Punjabi and Hindi and that has helped it open to decent numbers in Punjab and Delhi NCR belt. With 1.75 crore* coming in, the film has taken some sort of a start and now it has to be seen what’s the kind of distance it would eventually cover.

Box Office – Rock On 2 and Chaar Sahibzaade: Rise of Banda Singh Bahadur – Friday collections

Rock On 2 has just not managed to rise as the collections were quite low at 2.02 crore. These are less than half of what one would have expected even in the worst case scenario and it is clear that both demonetization as well as lack of interest amongst the audiences has hit the film hard. Farhan Akhtar’s last release as a main lead, Wazir, had opened to 5.57 crore and Rock On 2 Day One is nowhere close to that. In fact the collections are lesser than films like Fitoor [3.61 crore], TE3N [2.61 crore] and Great Grand Masti [2.5 crore] which pretty much tells the tale. The film would need a miracle from this point on!

*Final numbers awaited

Rock On 2 : 1st Friday Box Office Collections Early Estimates

Farhan Akhtar and Shraddha Kapoor starrer opened to an extremely low occupancy yesterday morning. Early estimates suggest that the film collected merely 2.5 crores* on its opening day. This is quite a disappointing start for the musical drama.

One of the major setbacks for this film was the recent Government ban of Rs. 500 and 1000 notes which left a lot of people dependent mainly on electronic cash.

Unfortunately, Rock On 2 also received average reviews from the critics. With the music too not being widely accepted, the film was headed to a low start.

Rock On 2 Opens Below Average | Morning Occupancy Box Office Report

Rock On 2, which released today, has received a below average start at the box office. This musical drama opened to around 15% (or even less than that) occupancy in the morning shows.

This kind of opening was pretty much expected from the film, since the overall pre-release buzz around the film was not very great. The music has turned out to be a huge disappointment, besides the trailer too had witnessed lukewarm response from the audience.

Rock On 2’s box office growth could only rely on the word of mouth, which can be a game changer if it flows positive. Its target audience is mostly youth, based in metro cities. So the film should show substantial growth in multiplexes and cities like Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, Pune and so on.
